We had an absolutely mesmerising and inspiring day learning about The Fire of London with Sir William Petty. He showed us various artefacts and told us the story of the fire. The children re-enacted spraying the fire with buckets of water and we pretended to be the tightly packed houses in London to watch how the fire was able to spread so easily. After lunch, Sir William challenged us to draw our own versions of the 'New London' that was constructed after the fire. We were able to join our pictures up to create a map which we compared to the map from before the fire. The children were truly in awe of Sir William and we were eager and enthusiastic to continue our learning after the visitor had left!
